Getting Your Feet Summer Ready
Winter is over and it’s time to pull those sandals out and get your feet summer ready. But yikes, your feet are in bad shape! Winter months are often the excuse to not have to buff, exfoliate, and polish, and by the time summer gets here our poor feet are showing the results of months of neglect. Now it’s time to pull out the big guns- foot peels….
Beauty fads come and go, from the latest miracle gadget to the newest anti-aging creme. Changing so fast they make your head spin. One of the newest sensations being foot peels. So what the heck are foot peels anyway?
Foot peels are a relatively new way of exfoliating your feel minus the scrubbing. If you read the ingredient list of any foot peel, you’ll see a list of a billion different acids, similar to what you see in a facial chemical peel. They are not for the faint of heart. If you aren’t careful foot peels can do some damage.
Aqua(Water), Alcohol, Isopropyl Alcohol, Lactic Acid, Glycolic Acid, Arginine, Parfum, Butylene Glycol, Peg-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Glucose, O-Cymen-5-Ol, Citric Acid, Malic Acid (Apple), Citrus Aurantium Dulcis(Orange) Peel Oil, Citrus Grandis(Grapefruit)Peel Oil, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Cymbopogon Schoenanthus Oil(Camel Grass), Nasturtium Officinale Extract(Watercress), Arctium Lappa Root Extract(Burdock Root), Saponaria Officinalis Leaf Extract (Soapwort), Hedera Helix(Ivy) Extract, Salvia Officinalis (Sage)Leaf Extract, Citrus (Lemon) Fruit Extract, Clematis Vitalba Leaf Extract(Clematis), Spiraea Ulmaria Extract (Meadowsweet), Equisetum Arvense Extract (Horsetail Herb), Fucus Vesiculosus Extract (Bladderwrack), Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract(Chamomile), Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract (Tea Plant), Houttuynia Cordata Extract (Chameleon), Phenoxyethanol, Hydroxyethyl cellulose, Salicylic Acid, Sodium Nitrate, Glyoxal, Disodium Phosphate, Linalool, Limonene
April came around and I decided I could not neglect the piggies anymore. It was time to put my best foot forward (no pun intended.) I jumped on the bandwagon and tried a foot peel for the first time.
I followed the directions to the T. Sorry folks, I didn’t take pics, the first part is pretty uneventful. You just take the plastic socks out of the box and find a comfy spot. You put them on and sit still for 20 minutes. The hardest part was doing nothing for 20 minutes. Then you rinse off. DONE, that’s all. Then you wait, and wait…and wait some more.
Then about 5 day’s later a little peeling started, kind of like a mild sunburn at first, Fast Forward to Day 10- Holy Moly then knock your socks off (sorry too many punny puns) peeling began. It was ridiculous and gross, and strangely cathartic. I found myself at the strangest times and places picking my foot skin off. If your a “picker” you get this and you will find it cathartic too.
I filmed the gross goodness for you to get the full effect. If you’re squeamish look away but If your a fan of Dr. Pimple Popper and weird stuff like me, enjoy sickos ;).
(Silent prayer this doesn’t end up in the hands of a weirdo with a foot fetish)
Foot Peels are the way to go! If you can handle a good two weeks of gross peeling and a few stares from strangers wondering if you’re contagious then do it! I had some pretty good cracks in my heels from being a barefoot gal and they are gone, without the daily scrubbing.
